Braces Introduction

Getting Braces at BHG Orthodontics

Braces

When you or your child is given the opportunity to have braces, several questions may go through your mind. How much do braces cost? Do you really need them? Will they be worth the investment? The team at BHG Orthodontics is here to help you make an informed decision.

Braces: Are They Worth the Cost?

For many, the answer is yes. While the initial cost of braces might seem high, we consider braces a worthwhile investment, contributing to self-confidence and long-term comfort that crooked, missing or irritated teeth can have an impact on. Whether you choose to take the leap as a child or an adult, the orthodontists at BHG Orthodontics in London Ontario are here to help you achieve the ideal bite and smile you desire. Covering the Cost of Braces

Talk to your employer about orthodontic benefits. Orthodontic coverage varies based on your provider and your plan. There are many different insurance plans. Either way, BHG Orthodontics offers flexibility in our payment plans.

Options for Braces

  1. Self-ligating Braces: We only use self-ligating braces for a few reasons. There is less friction between the brackets and the wire and friction is bad. Less friction means less discomfort because the teeth move with less force. Less force is better for the teeth and bone. Finally, with self-ligating brackets, we can get your treatment completed more efficiently with less trips to the office.
  2. Clear Aligners: You may have heard of Invisalign and ClearCorrect which are a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. There are obvious aesthetic benefits of clear aligner treatment as are very patient friendly as they can be removed for eating and brushing.
  3. Ceramic braces are translucent, clear braces. These are a great alternative for individuals who would prefer not to have metal braces. They perform just as well as metal braces and self-ligating as well.

Braces for Children

Parents often wonder how old their children should commence orthodontic treatment. There is no ideal age for children to start their orthodontic journey. Braces and/or interceptive treatment for children are dependent upon treatment needs.

Braces for Adults

It is never too late to begin your orthodontic treatment plan with BHG Orthodontics. Braces for adults are becoming more common. According to the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, more than 1 in 4 dental patients wearing braces are over 21.

How long do I need to wear braces?

The length of your treatment is based on individual treatment needs. We offer interceptive treatment plans for our younger patients as well as comprehensive treatment plans ranging from 12 months to two years for most cases. Minor correction could take less than 12 months and very involved cases could be longer than two years.

How Often do I Need to Visit my Orthodontist?

Depending on treatment needs your appointments will be scheduled anywhere from four weeks to twelve weeks with the average being every eight weeks for adjustments.

“The team at BHG Orthodontics is knowledgeable, upbeat and super friendly. We are always greeted with a smile! We currently have both our girls in full braces and they’ve bent over backwards to make sure the girls can be seen together and that their appointments accommodate our work schedules. Having two girls in braces at the same time can put quite a strain on a bank account, but Debi worked with us to come up with a payment plan that was affordable and made sense.”
